Optiwave ( is a leading provider of engineering design software products for photonic, biophotonic, and system design engineers. To request access or further information about Optiwave's "Free for Academics" program, please email Optiwave Systems Inc. The lab assignments are publicly available and come with corresponding answer guides that may be accessed by professors.

Initially, the Free for Academics Program will only be available to universities residing in the US and Canada, however, it is Optiwave's intention to extend this program to as many countries as possible."Īlong with free software and support, Optiwave is also providing comprehensive system-level lab assignments that cover topics ranging from the fundamentals of optical fiber design to the optimization of advanced modulation systems. "Students will have the opportunity to get acquainted with industry-level software, better preparing them for the work force upon graduation. To request an OptiSuite license, please email ultimate goal is to help optics and photonics students receive the best education possible, and it's our belief that this program is a major step towards achieving that," says Bryan Tipper, VP of Sales & Marketing at Optiwave. This program gives each university department access to a free 1-year lease of OptiSuite and an opportunity to continue leasing Optiwave software at absolutely no cost. Optiwave has successfully developed simulation software for over two decades and would like to demonstrate appreciation to universities by providing its entire suite of software tools to students engaged in optical research. Also included is unlimited technical support via Optiwave's Community Forums, access to Optiwave's Academic Publication Portal (where students earn money for contracting their services), and nine new professionally written OptiSystem Lab Assignments. The program includes a free 1-user OptiSuite lease comprised of all six Optiwave software tools: OptiSystem, OptiSPICE, OptiFDTD, OptiBPM, OptiGrating, and OptiFiber. We hope we will get all the answer from forum, which we are seeking. And we will be so grateful to them who clarify our confusion. Answer from the OPTISYSTEM expert members will highly encourage our purpose. Please someone help us to clear our 3 confusion, because our thesis will be depending on the 3 answer of those above questions. Are we correct?Īnyway, below I rearrange above question sequentially again,ġ)To circulate a signal in a loop such as “abcda” do we need optical delay and iteration?Ģ)To view the each output which is created by each circulation of the signal, do we need to change the signal index?ģ)So can we say that for a loop diagram such as figure:1, number of circulation of a signal is equal to number of iteration? Or we use 20 iterations, is it means that, the pulse circulate 20 times within the loop? However according to the “tutorial-1 Lesson 5: Bidirectional Simulation - Working with multiple iterations” we use the iteration and optical delay to circulate the pulse within the loop.

Such as output should be look like figure:2 but we have got this output of figure:3 (see in pdf file), then one of my group members said that, to see output of each circulation of pulse (because according to the theory if the pulse makes one circulation with in the loop “abcda”, an output pulse will be detected, so for each circulation we will get a pulse) we may need to change the number of iteration by changing the signal index parameter, but he is not 100% sure. But still we are confused about some matter.

However we have able to create a pulse generator which generates single pulse only for first iteration or when signal index is zero, and in other iteration it produce null signal. We are working to recreate a diagram in optisystem-7 which I have told earlier in this forum ( ). Finally we (me and my 3 group members) have almost able to design our optical layout for our BSc thesis.
